Hi!
Let's give this another try today. I hope that you are all finding this blog because I'm having a hard time sending it out (and saving it). Oh well, I WILL learn how to use a computer, "I know I can, I know I can!"
Today we were worried that Dennis might have an infection in his incision because last night it was so red and sore looking (still no pain pills). I called the Dr. who wasn't in today, but they had another Dr. who could see him. Of course he was at work, so I called him and arranged to pick him up and go in to see what the problem was. Fortunately, it looked a lot better today, he was allergic to the tape, so the dr. changed the dressing and put some more gauze strips under the two drains. Hopefully within the next week he will be able to get the drains out, they are a pain.
Before I left to pick him up, the phone rang and it was our Surgeon, Dr. Reading.
She was off today, but her nurse called and told her we were coming in, so the dr. called soeone at the office to tell them Dennis' story and problems. Dr. Swenson was very nice, in fact he is from Provo and lived only a couple of blocks away from where I lived. He was extremely nice to us. He kinda OK'd Dennis being the hero of the neighborhood, but said to pay attention if he started feeling tired and not over due his charmed life of no pain! He said things looked good and the incision was healing well. I about passed out when I saw how big and hollow it was. The incision goes from the middle of his chest over to his side and up into the armpit area.
Dr. Reading called me and said that she had taken out 40 lympth nodes and 39 of them were full of cancer. Not good news. We decided to still go ahead with the body scan (Wed. May 28), and then followup with an appoinment with Dr. Ward at Huntsman Cancer Center, who will decide at that time what treatment they will use on Dennis. This is like a "wait and wait and wait game" and then you still don't really know anythingl Let's hope that next week will be a bit more informative.
After we came home and ate lunch Dennis went over to do some work with Jay and I headed for the nail center to get my nails done. We both got home about the same time and I'm doing the blog while he is making supper. See what I mean???
What a great guy! Lucky me!
More later....thanks again for all you do, say, and pray.
